I just read a news story explaining that Hillary Clinton is telling supporters as she campaigns in Texas that, really, the big Obama wins were expected, that, really, she and Obama will trade wins and losses in the various primaries, that, really, she’s not having any problems. The news story quotes her as saying: “That’s what I always thought would happen, so we are very well positioned to compete in these big states.”
When I read that news story, I couldn’t help but remember Rudy Giuliani’s clever strategy to concentrate on the big Florida primary as the sure-fire way to rocket his candidacy into the top spot on the GOP side of this odd election campaign.
Yeah, right.
So, a word of caution to Hillary Clinton and her campaign people: Don’t just sit there and concede ANY of the primaries/caucuses to Obama if you’re serious about winning the nomination. Pause long and hard and ask yourselves this question, and give it an honest answer: Am I really sure the American people, at least those in the Democratic Party, want ME for their next presidential candidate? Or could things be going this way because Barack Obama is really the person they want to run as the Democratic Party candidate for the White House??
Ah, well, what do I know? I’m just a guy who reads the papers.
