So who’s winning the Clemens v. McNamee pitch before Congress?
I actually sat her and watched about an hour and a half of the Congressional testimony by MLB pitching great Roger Clemens in his faceoff with former trainer Brian McNamee. I preface my comments with this confession: I am a Roger Clemens fan, and I am one of the world's most gullible people.
As a Clemens fan, I really want to believe his testimony that McNamee is lying and that he, the Rocket, absolutely never used any illegal or banned substances. As a gullible person, I really see Clemens' sincerity and believe him.
Having said that, I admit he could be lying.
On the other hand, everything McNamee said that I heard sounded just a bit bizarre. The idea that he continued working faithfully for and with Clemens while having bloody syringes and gauze set aside as evidence to protect himself in any future drug scandal -- how strange is that??
If you are at all interested in baseball and/or integrity in sports (is that an oxymoron?), I hope you get a chance to watch some of the testimony.
Bottom line for me: I think Clemens is telling the truth.
Ah, well, what do I know? I'm just a guy who reads the papers.
