No surpise here — Internet shopping grew during 2007 holiday season
In my other life, I have some Internet affiliate marketing websites, and this was the first holiday shopping season during which I had them online. My very small online presence saw very few shoppers (though I did sell a few things), but according to a report I just read, the largest Web shopping sites saw sales grow some 29 percent in 2007 from the 2006 holiday shopping season.
I think may people just prefer the directbuy convenience of shopping from their recliner and laptop while dressed in their pajamas to getting dressed, driving across town, and fighting the holiday shopping crowds. I could be wrong, but I really think the "techie" fun of it also pleases some people.
Whatever the reason, I hope the trend continues. Maybe by next year I'll have some significant affiliate marketing sites up and running and capture some of that shopping revenue myself. I can hope, can't I?
