What an interesting “lunch bunch” is gathering at the White House right now!
How cool is this country, really? We battle over politics daily at every level. Politicians back-stab and battle each other throughout the land.
Then suddenly, you see a bipartisan “time out” and the current living presidents take time for lunch at the White House to help the “newbie” get off to a good start. Political foes of opposing parties and passions sit down to break bread together.
As that line of Yakov Smirnoff’s goes — “What a country!”
Of course, the cynic in me says, these old boys just enjoy the power and the mantle of former power so much, they’re happy to sit around the table and watch the cameras snap to put them in front of the world one more time. And that has to be part of it. I’ll bet there’s NEVER been a president who has been deficient in ego — certainly not the two Bushes, Clinton, Carter, and newbie Obama.
But the optimist in me says, hey, if all these guys sit down together and offer ANY helpful tips, mental/moral support — what can it hurt, given the leadership tasks facing Obama from the git-go.
So I say it again — “What a country!”
Cynicism. Not healthy for you.
I don’t know about the Clinton job interview angle, but I agree Bush probably just appreciates the company. LOL!
Well, Obama’s rehired most of Clinton’s staff, anyway, maybe it was a job interview? G.W. was probably just happy that someone wanted to talk to him.
