I’m claiming the first shot fired in 2007 ‘war on Christmas’ — war’s over, get back to living!

Wow, where have I been?? The day after I applauded us all (?) for the toned-down talk about the "war on Christmas" silliness, our local newspaper had a sort of "pro" and "con" page regarding the goofiness about Christmas v. holidays, Christmas decorations v. holiday decorations, etc.

But since MY post came first, I’m claiming the first shot in this year’s war. Nyana Nyana Nyana!

That even sounds juvenile, doesn’t it? Or perhaps childish -- like the whole silly "war on Christmas" business. This year will be my 60th round of Christmas/Holiday celebrations. Most of them I remember. And from the very earliest time I was aware of the meaning and nature of Christmas, I always understood this: No one else’s celebration or choice NOT to celebrate Christmas has diminished Christmas even one little bit in my life.

For God's sake — yes, it IS "Christ" mas, so I say "for God’s sake" -- get over all of it, you idiots out there who believe Jesus or the world demand your crusade over "Christmas" or "holiday." Jesus spoke about folks like you, do you remember? They were called Pharisees when he was around.

Oh, and one other thought in parting -- if Jesus is God; if God is at the center of what "Christmas" is all about for you -- don't you think He can take care of himself? I don't really think the Almighty Creator needs your help, does He?

Ah, well, what do I know? I’m just a guy who reads the papers.
