How well do home gyms work out for you?
Yes, the title on this article about home gyms IS intended to be a pun — “work out” as it a good “workout” at the gym? Get it?Over the years, I’ve fiddled around with home exercise equipment, everything from a small barbell set when I was a teenager to those stretchy cables, a variety of dumbells, and a couple of cheaper model exercise bikes during my adult years. I’ve never really had what you could call a “home gym,” though I actually have space for one now. And I have had memberships (briefly) in a couple of fitness centers.
In fact, there’s a nice fitness center which my wife can get a family membership in at an excellent rate, within three blocks of our home.
So which works best for you — a home gym or home workout equipment, or a bona fide fitness center?
While I would love to have a decent home gym, assuming I could finance the necessary equipment to make it worthwhile, I tend to think I’d be more likely to get up and get out of the house to a fitness center with a paid membership.
