Here’s hoping that gigantic federal stimulus plan will help the economy. Despite what Rush Limbaugh and others have said, it really is in the best interest of us all to turn the economy around. So now the federal cash drawer will open and we’ll have to see what happens.
It’s important to note at least two things about this plan:
1. NOBODY, not those who backed it and not those who opposed it, believes all will suddenly be sweetness and light and economic prosperity. If you think those supporting it feel that optimistic about it, you haven’t been paying close enough attention.
2. There are a multitude of idiotic, just plan dishonest charges floating around the Internet and elsewhere about what’s in the huge package of legislation we’re calling the “stimulus plan” or “jobs bill.” Neither label, by the way, is entirely correct. If one thing about this legislation is seriously wrong, it’s the way it was rushed through so quickly that it probably contains lots of problems and lacks lots of details.
Unfortunately, no one can guarantee this will work. And there are those who say the best thing to have done might honestly be to have done nothing. How doing nothing would have helped, I personally don’t understand. When hundreds of thousands of jobs and billions of dollars of savings and investments are going down the drain monthly, what part of “nothing” really will solve the problem?
Doing nothing would be a vast improvement over spending my future great grand children’s as yet unearned taxes on a liberal based welfare state.
This was NOTHING but a land grab by democrats, using an economic crisis to justify spending on liberal adjenda programs that have nothing to do with stimulating the economy.
It is a sorrowful, sorrowful waste of taxpayer money, it is a sorrowful, sorrowful misrepresentation of facts, and as predicted by many, Obama has become a lap dog for Pelosi, unable to tell his own party that NOW is not the time for hundreds of billions of dollars worth of pork barrel spending.
Quick show of hands: HOW MANY SENATORS AND HOUSE REPRESENATIVES READ THIS 1,100 PAGE BILL BEFORE VOTING TO SPEND $780 BILLION ( 1.2 TRILLION AFER INTEREST ) ?
The answer is zero, not one single democrat read the singlemost expensive bill ever passed by our congress. Not one.
I do not know how you democrats can look at yourselves in the mirror of a morning, I really don’t. Is this your view on fairness? Is this a just system of government?
The only thing more amazing than the democratic leadership’s audacity at pushing through this bill, is the near complete silence that the democrat party as a whole has taken regarding this bankrupting of America.
It is not possible to claim that this bill is needed to stimulate the economy, when no one in fact has actually READ the bill.
So, yes, actually, I’d be a lot damn happier if congress had just sat on their hands and done nothing. We’d be 1.2 trillion dollars ahead of where we were when Obama came into office.
