Has swine flu slowed or has media lost interest?

Has the swine flu slowed down and pretty much run it’s course, or has “the Media” just sort of lost interest?

I would bet it’s tapered off and faded out. I would probably be WRONG making that bet.

According to a news story in “The Washington Post,” the disease may have slowed and vaccinations have been successful — but the story also reported this:

“An estimated 55 million became ill from swine flu from the time it was first identified in April through mid-December – the first eight months of the pandemic. About 246,000 Americans were hospitalized and 11,160 killed.

“The CDC last estimated that through mid-November, the pandemic had sickened 50 million Americans and killed 10,000.”

That’s good news, of a sort. But that’s by no means the end of the disease. If you haven’t been vaccinated yet for either the swine flu or the regular seasonal flu, it’s not too late. Influenza has long been a surprising “killer” disease both here in America and worldwide. No one really thinks of influenza as deadly, but it very often can be.

When we were kids, we’d go to bed in the winter wrapped carefully in PJs and multiple blankets, usually with enough “vapo rub” slathered on us that you’d think it was some fancy night cream designed to make us grow up smooth and wrinkle free. I don’t know how much of that did our health any good (I battled pneumonia twice as a kid), but it comforted both us and our parents.

Comfort yourself and your parents regarding the flu — get vaccinated and take the usual daily health precautions.

I think it’s pretty much died just like everything else they report on these days.
