Getting ready to juggle travel plans, online business
For the first time in a few years, we now own a car that’s dependable enough for us to trust taking it on a long trip. The old jalopy we had was adequate for getting around town, even perhaps a few miles from home on rare occasions. Frankly, it was so prone to breakdown that we should have ditched it (no pun intended) long ago. The uncertainty of freelance income, though, makes it hard to finance a car.The point of all this is, we bought a car that’s certainly well used, but is new enough and reliable enough that I wouldn’t be concerned about taking some long road trips. Now that wife and I are into our “golden years,” we intend to make some trip plans. (Should we try an Alaskan cruise? Or perhaps reserve one of those cancun packages that combine hotel accommodations with lots of beach time AND a cruise or two? Or maybe just some nostalgic road trips to past “hometowns”?)
Along with reading a fair amount of news and opinion stuff both off line and online, I enjoy history and I enjoy reading about travel. Now that I have a decent vehicle to do some traveling, the question becomes how do I stay online and keep an online business alive while on the road? And the beauty of all that is — the technology is in place and almost affordable even for me to be online daily/hourly/whatever.
So look for us in the shiny white Toyota Camry. We’ll be the older couple scouting out motels with free WiFi.
