Don’t be confused by all the silliness and “sky is falling” paranoia out there — just go out when you can and get a flu shot. If you are able to do it, get both the seasonal flu shot and the H1N1 shot when it’s available.
Influenza is serious business. We tend to think and say things like, “oh, it’s just a little flu,” when we think of the disease. But even without the scary stuff going around about the so-called “swine flu,” influenza kills around 30,000+ people every year just here in the U.S.
That’s not some marketing tactic designed to sell vitamin pills or acne products — that’s reality.
You’ll see and hear a lot of stuff about the risks of vaccines. None of it is backed up by real science. Don’t let scare tactics keep you from getting a flu shot if it’s available and if you can afford it. If you don’t want to trust me on this, that’s all right, too. You don’t even know me.
Go to a legitimate doctor and/or health clinic, and ask about the safety and effectiveness of flu shots. Get serious if you wish and investigate the science behind vaccines and vaccinations — and especially investigate the fallacies, half-truths, and outright lies behind the anti-vaccination movement in this country.
Then go get that flu shot.
