Do you have tatoos or piercings? Do you think they make you sexier?
I confess up front that I have no tattoos and I have no piercings. There's a reason for that: I find tattoos personally just generally ugly, and the only piercing I would be at all interested in might be an ear.
My older brother did what most guys did back in the 1950s and '60s after joining the military -- he went out with some Army buddies, got drunk, and had a couple of large tattoos on each arm. He's now in his mid-60s, very successful as a retired Army colonel and business administrator. But to this day, he wears mostly long sleeve shirts to hide the tattoos as often as possible.
My son came home after his first semester away at college and made sure I saw the earring in his left earlobe. When I failed to act like it was any big deal -- he returned both clip on earrings to his mother. Big joke.
So why am I going into all this? I just read a report that said about 14 percent of the U.S. population have tattoos. Of that number, something like 84 percent say they have no regrets about getting the tattoos -- and three in 10 of those who had tattoos said it makes them feel sexier.
Sexier? Personally, I think women with tattoos detract from their sexiness, not enhance it. The survey found people without tattoos inclined to think that, too, about those with tattoos.
So go ahead. Get that tattoo, get that piercing. Just be warned that many of us don't find odd body piercing or tattoos sexy at all.
